ViewFinity S9: Samsung’s 5K monitor for creative pros

One month after its most recent ViewFinity S8 upgrade, Samsung has unveiled a new ViewFinity monitor, the ViewFinity S9. The latest monitor from Samsung boast a 5K (5120 x 2880) resolution and a beautiful aluminum casing, it might rival the LG UltraFine 5K and Apple Studio Display.

The ViewFinity S9, in particular, offers a 27-inch 5K display (5,120 x 2,880), as opposed to the native 4K resolution of the ViewFinity S8 (S8UT). Additionally, the ViewFinity S9 supports factory-calibrated Delta E 2 color deviations and 99% DCI-P3 color space coverage.It also features three USB-C connectors, a DisplayPort port, and one Thunderbolt 4 port. Samsung continues by stating that it has a “Colour Calibration Engine” built into its smartphones that can calibrate color balance, gamma, and white balance without the use of specialized hardware.The ViewFinity S9 can charge laptops at up to 96 watts.

ViewFinity will have the same software as Samsung TVs and Smart Monitor, direct access to streaming apps and productivity software like Google Meet is guaranteed.
The quality of these calibration, however, remains to be seen. The ViewFinity S9 also features a small webcam known as the 4K SlimFit camera and Thunderbolt 4 connections.

Samsung has not yet verified release date, availability or pricing information.
